Our Brand

mayamada is a manga brand and mission-driven creative agency that equips aspiring professionals and practitioners to thrive on their creative journey. Co-founded by Nigel Twumasi, the brand works across manga comics, video games, and youth engagement. Built around an original universe of anthropomorphic characters within a television network setting with a distinct British-Japanese fusion, mayamada uses storytelling as a tool for creative development.

The brand specialises in three core areas: creative development (workshops and work experience programmes), creative event delivery, and promotional content creation. Through seven brand pillars - Universe, Studios, Studio77, "Do I Look Like A Gamer?", Labs, Productions, and Showrunners - mayamada delivers inclusive skills development, community-building events, and strategic consultancy that foster diversity in creative industries.

Guided by the tagline "Imagine More," mayamada challenges people to expand creative thinking to see greater possibilities. The Showrunners Work Experience programme creates structured pathways to engage with creative industries for young people from diverse backgrounds. This initiative allows aspiring creative professionals to gain valuable, meaningful work experience with the mayamada team whilst developing skills and building connections within the creative community.

Work Experience Overview

The mayamada Showrunners is a practical bridge between education and real-world work. As part of the programme, you will work with the mayamada team, particularly co-founder Nigel Twumasi and Creative Director Tazziii. We are committed to giving young people the opportunity to grow while developing skills and gaining experience over time.

Our Live Brief pathway offers work experience opportunities to young people interested in the creative industries. We understand that finding work experience opportunities specific to art, comics, video games, and content creation can be challenging. Therefore, we have put together a list of opportunities that offer hands-on experience in these exciting industries.

Participation in these opportunities can provide students and young people with a range of benefits, including building confidence, developing skills, networking with industry professionals, and preparing for their careers.
